Mr. Tony Boy Cojuangco is the Chairman and Owner of the Asia Institute For Distance Education, Inc. He is the President of the Asian Institute for Distance Education and the Chairman of Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Ballet Philippines, Cinemalaya Foundation Inc. and Radio Veritas. Apart from his positions in the Artistic community, he is also the Chairman and President of Calatagan Golf Inc. and Calatagan Golf and Country Club and leads numerous businesses as the chairman of the board in companies such as CAP Life Insurance Corporation, Directories Philippines Corporation, The Philippine Trade Foundation Inc., Shang Properties, Nabasan Subic Development Corporation and the Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc.
As the President of AIDE, Tony Boy believes that the way to make education more accessible and equitable to the marginalized and underserved is through the provision of distance education system that’s why AIDE was established in 1980’s. As the first distance education institution in the country which was conceived to be called as “Asian University for Independent Studies,” AIDE has continuously served the disadvantaged sector in the Philippine society like the prison inmates, those in the drug rehabilitation centers, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), people with special needs and disabilities (PWDs), people from the indigenous groups (IPs), the working class, and other underserved groups. To further widen student’s access to quality open higher education, Tony Boy continues to support AIDE Foundation to enable the development of individuals and communities throughout the Philippines and beyond which in turn serve the needs of the country.
